Molly Hammar
As the daughter of two jazz musicians who’d met in a big band, Molly grew up surrounded by music. At the age of six, the family moved from a small town in the north of Sweden to Stockholm. “It was a very arty, playful and groovy home”, Molly explains. “We were jamming and singing together every day of my upbringing and we had lots, and lots of fun. There were many high peaks, but also dips since they both toured a lot.”
At the age of twelve Molly wrote her first songs on piano, a sort of therapy to better deal with her parents ongoing divorce. At the time she studied at Adolf Fredriks musikklasser one of Sweden’s most credible music high schools, and three years later she was accepted on to Rytmus’s singer songwriter course. At this time Molly was fifteen and had her definitive breakthrough in the Swedish talent show Idol.
7 years later at the age of 22, with 2 gold singles under her belt, the artist is ready to move away from a pure pop focus, to fulfil her dream of making a soulful R&B Album. The idea had been with her for a long time and she decided to take the full leap with this next EP. To realize her vision, she teamed up with Lucas Nord and Nils “Melo” Tull, two Swedish artists that Molly had been a long-time fan of. Molly and Lucas had already written together when they met in a session a few years back. “The things he sang about when we met in that session was almost too outrageous. Even for me!”, she says laughing.
